A little sunshine for the InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s February Blog Hop!

Today’s blog hop is filled with projects inspired by a Birthday Bliss theme.  What fun! Stampin’ Up! catalogs are filled with fun, festive and beautiful ways to make birthdays special and we are excited to share our creations with you today. We are also excited to welcome guest designer Michelle Last to our team’s blog hop this month.

After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Denise Hoepfner | The Mountain Magpie

My daughter turns 28 tomorrow, which is really weird because I’m like — 35ish.

ANYHOO, she is working hard to get her computer science degree while raising her son and because we are 1,700 miles apart, I can’t be there for her as much as I would like. Lately, she hasn’t been feeling well, so I wanted to make her a cheery birthday card to raise her spirits.

To make this card, I used the Cupcakes and Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack, which is filled with gorgeous and whimsical designs, like the sunburst print I chose for the top layer.

Next, I used the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from the Big on Birthdays stamp set and stamped it in Pumpkin Pie ink on a Very Vanilla card stock circle.

I then hand cut a banner in Very Vanilla card stock and layered it on a larger one I cut from So Saffron card stock, which is what I used for the card base, as well.

Finally, I cut a So Saffron “sunshine” die cut from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies. I think the font is so fun, especially next to the more staid “Happy Birthday.”

I hope this card brings a smile to my daughter’s face as much as the gift card I put inside it will.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Candy Ford at Stamp CandyThere’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group and you don’t want to miss it!

Love is in the air

img_4214Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day with your partner on Feb. 14 or Singles Awareness Day with half-off chocolates on Feb. 15, it’s always a good feeling when you spend time with the one you love.

The Lift Me Up stamp set and coordinating Up and Away Thinlits dies make it easy to create beautiful cards to celebrate love, friendship, birthdays and other occasions when you want to lift someone’s spirits.

For this card, I cut out the largest balloon die in Cherry Cobbler card stock and shaped the top of the balloon into a heart. I cut a second balloon out in Pink Pirouette card stock and paper-pieced the cutouts into the red balloon.

To make everything pop, I bordered it with black card stock with a strip of red glimmer paper across the base.

I hope you enjoyed your visit here today. I LOVED having you here!
