Always an Adventure for PP329

Denise Hoepfner | The Mountain Magpie

I live in Montana, so it’s no surprise that I love the mountains and nature. No matter the time of year here, people do their best to get out and enjoy our wildlands. Hiking, kayaking, skiing, sledding, camping – it’s all right out our front door. Of course, the flip side of recreation is conservation and working to keep our public lands accessible to all.

So, when I saw the Always an Adventure bundle from Stampin’ Up!, I knew it was a must-have for me. And when I saw Joanne’s Paper Players challenge, PP329, the diamond shapes reminded of – mountain ranges!

You’ll notice there isn’t a whole bunch of stamping on this card, just the tent (stamped in Cherry Cobbler and Dapper Denim) and the sentiment, which is from the Places You’ll Go stamp set (stamped in Early Espresso).

For the rest of the card, I used the following card stock:

It’s hard to capture the beauty of mountains — the alpenglow, the bluish-grayish whites of winter, their sheer majesty.

It’s a good thing this adorable stamp set and coordinating Framelits dies don’t even try. Instead, they give you a fun, almost cartoonish card that is sure to make anyone smile.

Thanks for stopping by!

‘Love is in the air’ InKing Royal Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s January Blog Hop – our first hop of 2017!

Today’s hop is filled with inspiring projects that feature each artist’s take on “Love is in the Air.” This is the best time of year to start planning your Valentine’s Day projects. There are amazing, new products in Stampin’ Up!’s Occasions Catalog and NOW is the best time to get them. We are excited to share our projects with you and hope they inspire you!

After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

You know that Sinead O’Connor song that goes, “It’s been seven hours and fifteen days…?”

Well, that’s about how long it took me to make this card, what with all the microscopic pieces that kept getting lost or mangled. That being said, I don’t recommend CASEing this project for just anyone. Here are a few people who might deserve it:

  • The person who gave you a kidney.
  • Anyone who surprises you by paying off your mortgage.
  • The friend who for years has kept THAT SECRET about you and you want to keep it that way.
  • Your mother/ your upline/Oprah.

To make this card, I cut out the larger Detailed Floral Thinlits Die in Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight and Wild Wasabi card stock. I then pieced everything into the Whisper White frame.

For the sentiment, I used the Suite Sentiments stamp set that can be found in the Occasions catalog.

This card isn’t perfect– there are a lot of rough spots if you look up close — but it was truly a labor of love for a dear friend who will think it’s fabulous.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Karen Browning at StampWithMeKZB. There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group and you don’t want to miss it!

Happy stamping,

From the heart for the Pals blog hop

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for January 2017!

We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our 2017 Blog Hop monthly themes. This month, our projects showcase themes that are “from the heart.” This includes any of the following themes: Valentine’s Day, Thinking of You, Get Well or Sympathy. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and we hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the lineup on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below. The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

Denise Hoepfner,

I was struggling to come up with an intricate super-fancy card to showcase after my long absence from my blog. I tried several things before realizing that what was important wasn’t coming up with something overly complicated, but rather that I was returning to something I love. And love should be simple.

So, for this sweet and simple expression of LOVE, I used items from the annual catalog (Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies), the Occasions catalog (Falling Petals Textured Impressions Embossing Folder) and the Sale-A-Bration brochure (Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack).

To make the card, I cut two flowers out using Thick Whisper White card stock and then stacked one on top of the other to give it some weight so I could lift it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used my Aqua Pen to watercolor both the flower (Pink Pirouette) and the stem (Pear Pizzazz).

I cut the “love” sentiment out in both Whisper White and Pink Pirouette card stock and layered it as well, reversing the colors.

I love mixing and matching between catalogs or between new and retired products to stretch my creativity and get the greatest value from my Stampin’ Up! collection. By thinking outside the bundle/suite/stamping case, the possibilities are limitless!

I’m happy with this card, and I’m happy to be back blogging! I hope to share more creations with you over the coming months.
