Make a Wish for PPA 284

The Mountain Magpie | Denise Hoepfner

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to play in a Pals Paper Arts challenge and when I saw this sketch by Maggie Mata for PPA 284, I almost decided to pass:

PPA-284-Jan21

Why would I think of passing on this creative sketch? Nothing against the wonderful Maggie, but it’s ASYMMETRICAL. My symmetry-loving brain has a hard time going wonky. It’s why in the ’80s when all my friends were chopping their hair into asymmetrical hairstyles, mine stayed perfectly straight.

But, I decided to give it a go and I’m happy I did. I LOVE the way this card turned out, and I can see so many more possible designs using this same sketch.

Thank you, Maggie, for leading me along a crooked path! Bwahahahaha!

Centerstage on this card is the paper from the It’s My Party Designer Series Pack, from the Occasions catalog. This big pack of paper is chock-full of fun designs for birthday and other cards.

The sentiment I used is from the Party Wishes stamp set, which is part of the same suite. I inked the words with my Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write marker, but decided not to ink the confetti. Instead, I used the It’s My Party enamel dots to highlight the sentiment and keep the party of color going.

The white candle-covered paper is layered with Basic Black card stock and popped up with Dimensionals. I also had to use Dimensionals to even out the circle on the side adhered to the black paper.

There’s still time to play in this fun challenge!

Here’s what I used to make this card:
