Sunburst Sayings on a snowy day

Denise Hoepfner The Mountain Magpie

It was snowing last weekend, when I spent an afternoon doing what I love — making cards. It seems as if I have so many friends and relatives with birthdays coming up. Of course, this gave me the excuse to use some of my new products from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog, which you can find here: Handmade from the Heart.

With snow falling outside, I decided I needed to brighten things up. What better way to do it than with the Sunburst Sayings bundle? I chose to use this AH-MA-ZING set for a card for my (future) sister-in-law.

I cut out two die cuts, one is Rose Red and one in Blushing Bride. I then cut apart the Blushing Bride die cut and layered the pieces over every other ray. This not only gave it a two-tone look, it also added a layer of dimension.

The paper behind the die cut is from the Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper Stack. The designs in this pack are so fun, and perfect for all types of cards.

For the sentiment, I went with a simple Happy Birthday to You greeting, from the stamp set. I did add a little bit of bling behind the sentiment with a metallic gold foil doily. (Try saying “foil doily” three times fast.)

To finish it off, I adhered white sequins from the Metallics Sequins Assortment onto some of the white flowers on the paper.

There you have it!

For those of you who are expecting snow in the next few days, I wish you a cozy weekend of crafting!

Here’s what I used to make this card (Clicking link will take you to my personal store):
