An Open Heart sympathy card

Denise Hoepfner | An Open Heart

Recently, a very dear lady passed away and we needed a card to send to her daughter to let her know how much we cared for her mother. I love the sentiments of the An Open Heart stamp set, which can be used for sympathy and for encouragement.

To make this card, I watercolored the bird using my Stampin’ Pads and a Blender Pen. I used Crumb Cake, Watermelon Wonder and Basic Gray inks for the body, with Mint Macaron for the leaves, Hello Honey for the blossoms and Mossy Meadow for the leaves under the blossoms.

I thought the Mint Macaron dotted paper from the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper would be a perfect low-key but beautiful background for the card. Basic Gray card stock gives the card some weight. To finish it off, I wrapped Linen Thread around the card.

This is a set that will likely remain in your collection for quite a while. I think it’s important to curate your purchases, choosing to spend your hard-earned money on a nice base of versatile and timeless stamps, with a few trendy ones thrown in just for fun.

Here’s what I used to make this card:
