Back from the future with Freshly Made Sketches 174

So I (finally) noticed yesterday that the dates on my blog posts were wrong. It turns out I was on Uganda time, which is a tad different from Montana time and made my posts look like they were posted a day ahead. It was a weird feeling seeing “future me” online, although I did try to take advantage of the situation and see if “future me” knew the winning lottery numbers. No such luck, so I guess it’s back to work for me tomorrow.

My date problem has been fixed, so this is “now me” sharing the card I made for Freshly Made Sketches #174.

Freshly Made Sketches 174

At first, I thought I would use washi tape to make the diagonal shape for this challenge. Then I remembered I had something better than washi tape — the Stampin’ Up! Tape It stamp set! I love this set because it’s like having washi tape in every one of the Stampin’ Up! colors. I used Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, Hello Honey, Tempting Turquoise, Tangelo Twist, Elegant Eggplant and Wild Wasabi.

To make the diagonal shape, I stamped each piece individually on Whisper White card stock that I then cut out. I glued each piece where I wanted it on another piece of Whisper White card stock then cut it to fit across the card. So, even though it looks like the washi tape pieces are stamped right onto the white base of the card, it’s actually a separate piece that is glued down, which makes it a little raised and gives it some dimension.

For the shape, I decided to go with a Daffodil Delight balloon from the Celebrate Today stamp set, which allowed me to combine my sentiment, as well. I used a Mini Glue Dot to hold the Calypso Coral Bakers Twine, than anchored it with a Calypso Coral button, part of the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack that I earned during the current Sale-A-Bration promotion.

So there you have it! I may remake this card for different occasions. The simple design with some color changes would work well for a baby shower card, thank you card, or everyday card.

Here’s what I used for this project:
